How Do Weight Loss Injections Work?
If you’ve heard about weight loss injections but aren’t sure how they work, this post will give you some answers. Read on to find out if they’ll work for you!

Almost one in three adults in the United States is overweight, and two out of five are obese. Given the prevalence of weight issues, it’s no surprise that more and more methods of weight loss are popping up.

One new technique that shows promise is weight loss injections. The injections don’t work on their own; they’re part of an overall weight loss program, but they do help people lose weight.

Our team at Voss Family Clinic is dedicated to helping people achieve their goal weight, which can boost energy and build confidence. Here’s our guide to what weight loss injections are and how they work.

What are weight loss injections?

Weight loss injections are a tool used as part of an overall weight management program. They’re not intended to be used on their own as a magic solution. Instead, they help you lose weight in conjunction with other methods, such as diet and exercise.

Voss Family Clinic offers two types of weight loss injections: lipotropic injections and semaglutide injections.

How do lipotropic injections work?

Lipotropic injections include essential vitamins and nutrients designed to speed up your metabolism, which will encourage your body to burn more fat. The combination of vitamins (often including B12), amino acids, and minerals helps break down fat in the liver and turn it into energy.

The boost in energy can also improve your overall mood and vitality and help you maintain lean muscle mass. The effects of lipotropic injections wear off after a while, so the treatment calls for repeat shots every three weeks.

How do semaglutide injections work?

Semaglutide products, such as Ozempic, can also expedite your weight loss. When your body undergoes periods of high blood sugar, Ozempic encourages your pancreas to produce more insulin. The additional insulin helps move sugar from the blood to other body tissues where it can provide energy.

The insulin also slows down your digestion by preventing your body from releasing too much sugar. As your digestion slows, food will stay in your stomach longer, which makes you feel full longer so you don’t feel the need to eat as much, which will help you lose weight.
